The NYGFL sends teams to various tournaments across the country throughout the year. Playing on an NYGFL travel team is a great way to sharpen your football skills, explore new places, and meet like-minded members of the LGBTQ+ community from other cities.
The NYGFL is one of 26 members of the National Gay Flag Football League (NGFFL), which hosts the annual Gay Bowl in a different city each year.
Each tournament has an Open Division and Women’s+ Division, often with multiple sub-divisions (A, B, C, etc.).
Unlike our local league, we host annual tryouts for travel teams and encourage any NYGFL member to attend. From there, the captains and NYGFL Board will place players on the team where they can best contribute to our city’s national success. Making a roster is not guaranteed, but you’re still encouraged to participate in practices and team social events.
